What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept the following forms of payment:

CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS

We can accept Visa, MasterCard, Switch, Solo, Electron or Maestro credit or debit cards. If you are making your first order with us, the delivery address must also be the card billing address as the charge will be refused if the address is different.

If you are outside the UK, then the charge on your statement will appear as UK pounds or UK pounds converted to your own currency. This will be the same amount as your total cost.

PAYPAL

We do not ask for any extra fees when PayPal is used.

CHEQUES AND POSTAL ORDERS

We do ask that you allow an EXTRA 10 days for us to send your item if we received a cheque as payment, to allow the cheque time to clear.

Please cross all postal orders.

Please write the invoice number on the reverse of any cheque or postal order.

Under no circumstances can we accept cheques/checks from another country. We cannot accept money orders from outside the UK unless they are international money orders made out in UK pound sterling currency. Any other type of money order will be returned to the sender.

We can also accept UK bank transfers, please email us for details.

How much does postage cost?

Shipping for all DVDs and CDs to UK addresses is FREE.

For other items and destinations:

For UK buyers:

UK£2.00 for any single item.
UK£4.00 for any two items.
UK£6.00 for any three or more items.
Item in the 'Large Collectibles' category count as two items when calculating UK shipping. Other exceptions for heavy items will be stated in the item description.

Recorded delivery is available for an additional fee of £1.10.

We send all UK items via Royal Mail, unless stated otherwise in the item description.

For European buyers:

UK£4.50 for any one item
UK£8.00 for any two items
UK£11.00 for any three or more items
Exceptions for heavy items will be stated in the item description.

Tracked delivery is available for an additional fee of £5.00. This fee may be mandatory at our discretion.

We send all items to European destinations by airmail. Delivery typically take 5 to 10 days.

For buyers outside Europe:

UK£7.00 for any one item
UK£12.00 for any two items
UK£16.00 for any three or more items
Exceptions for heavy items will be stated in the item description.

Items to non-European destinations may be sent by airmail or surface, depending on the weight. Airmail will typically take 5 to 14 days delivery time. Surface mail takes up to 21 days.

Tracked delivery is available for an additional fee of £5.00. This fee may be mandatory at our discretion.

Do you have or can you get [pick a title]?

The web site shows in stock items and items which are available to order.

Items that are listed as n/a (not available) are out of print or otherwise unavailable and we can't get them.

We can obtain any Japanese book, CD or DVD that is currently in print, so if you know of an item that we do not list, please let us know and we will see if we can add it.

What do 'in stock', 'available to order' and 'pre-order' actually mean?

If item(s) on your order are listed as 'in stock' then we will dispatch your order within two working days of receiving it.

If only part of your order is in stock, then we will send all in stock items immediately and automatically create a new order/invoice for all other items.

For items listed as 'available to order', we have to order then from our suppliers and then wait for them to send them to us. This normally takes between 2-6 weeks, so please allow up to 28 days after ordering before contacting us.

Some items do sell out or go temporarily out of print, and it can then take longer before we get these items back in stock.

'Pre-order' is displayed against items that are not officially available yet. These items can be ordered and will be shipped as soon as they arrive. Please note that due to the extra time it takes for items to reach us from Japan or the US, there can can be a significant delay between the release date and an item actually arriving.

Can you get hentai/pornographic items?

No, we do not supply hentai or pornographic items.

Will Japanese/US DVDs/Blu-rays work on my player?

The DVD and Blu-Ray formats are designed so that discs from one region, can't be used on a player from another region. Most US DVD discs won't work on unmodified UK DVD players, although some will. Japanese DVDs will work on UK players because the UK and Japan are in the same DVD region. Please note, however, that Japanese DVDs do not generally provide subtitles or English dialogue (unless stated in the item description).

Who and what is Otaku anyway?

Since 1995 Otaku has grown to be the largest anime collectors resource in the UK. We only sell original and licensed anime and related goods.

Over 10,000 items currently appear on the website.

Our web site has an in-depth description of most items. Most goods have images and we are always working on adding more information.

We want you to be happy with our service and the goods we supply, if you are unhappy with anything related to our service or delivery at all, then don't hesitate to complain to us, as we can't fix problems unless we know about them.

Is it safe to E-mail credit card numbers?

Credit card details submitted via the website are held on a secure server. We can accept card details by email, but please spilt them into two or more parts if your worried about security, or contact us by phone.

Pricing policy

Listed prices are always valid, but we reserve the right to change prices without notice (due to suppliers price increases and fluctuations in exchange rates). Prices, descriptions and release dates are correct to the best of our knowledge, but we can not be held responsible for mistakes, omissions or errors that may regrettably occur.

Availability and Cancellation of items

Items listed on the web site are currently available to order, however some items may become unavailable at short notice so we will contact you by email if this happens, however you may list alternatives if you wish to do so. You can cancel any order at any time, with the exception of Japanese DVD orders.

Customer information is held on a secure password protected computer for our own use only as it helps with any future orders you may place and from time to time we may send you any information that we feel may be of interest to you. None of your details will ever be given to third parties nor sold to any mailing agencies, however if you do not wish to receive any future updates or information, or wish to have your details removed from our database then please contact us.

Returns

In the event of any item(s) being damaged or faulty then please contact us within three days of receipt of items for details of returning the item(s). Returns will only be accepted if there is a genuine fault with the product, this includes shipping damage, faulty items and items not ordered.
